Neology is a Proud Sponsor of the February Virtual Conference, Where SVP GM Luke Normington Will Speak on Heavy-Goods Vehicles and LEZ GNSS Applications
Carlsbad, CA, US, January 29, 2025 — Neology, a global transportation technology company that is partnering with customers to [re]imagine mobility today announced that Senior Vice President and General Manager, Luke Normington, will join a panel of speakers on February 11 at 1:10PM Eastern Standard Time covering the topic of:
Distance-Based User Fee Collection in Europe: The most advanced production use of GNSS for tolling is in the European geography. GNSS is used there prominently for Heavy-Goods Vehicle (HGV) toll charging; meanwhile, new applications, e.g., for Low Emission Zones and beyond, are being tested and considered as well.
Normington will share his expert perspective on “Heavy-Goods Vehicles and Low Emission Zone GNSS Applications,” citing real-life industry example of ongoing work with a Neology customer in Denmark.
About 2025 GNSS Tolling Conference: Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based tolling has become the standard in Europe for commercial vehicle distance-based user fee collection. In the U.S., Road User Charging (RUC) has been widely discussed and piloted – with many programs leveraging the Global Positioning System (GPS). There is further consideration in certain Asian countries to deploy location-based tolling to apply to personal vehicles, not just commercial vehicles as in Europe. Singapore and Indonesia are already implementing GNSS-based road pricing for all vehicles. In 2024, India has started the procurement of the largest GNSS-based system in the world, to be implemented across the extensive National Highways network. Meanwhile, back in the Western Hemisphere, forward-thinking public and private tolling industry stakeholders continue to consider how such satellite-based systems can be leveraged for leaner and more user-friendly roadside systems. Many experts across the world believe that, eventually, we will indeed move away from Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) toll transponders as the de-facto vehicle detection method – perhaps towards GNSS Tolling. During yet another comprehensive event curated by Toll Insight, we invite you to join as we hear from innovative agencies, suppliers, and consultants across the U.S., Europe, and beyond about the applications and implementations of GNSS Tolling, best practices, and the future of the sector.
